Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C), and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the cake mix according to the package directions, using the oil and eggs.
- 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before crumbling it into a large mixing bowl.
- Mix in the frosting until the cake and frosting are thoroughly combined.
- Roll the mixture into 1 inch diameter balls.
- Insert a lollipop stick into each ball and place them in the freezer for 1 hour.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and shortening in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth.
- Dip each cake pop in the melted chocolate, turning to completely coat it.
- Chocolate sprinkles should be sprinkled over the chocolate-coated cake pop.
- To set the chocolate, place the cake pop upright in a piece of styrofoam.
- Repeat with the remaining cake pops, then serve.
